What aspects of Optimism Governance is your analytics work measuring?
Now we’ve analysed ~200 OP citizens (delegates and projects data is being processed now as well), their connections over 10 data sources (Farcaster, on-chain attestations, token holdings and community association, etc). The intention is to understand the nature of relations inside of the house, identify the centers of influence and support matchmaking for the alliances. We’ve identified 9 typical use cases for the tool.
Some Insight from the current research:
- lindaxie.eth (followed by 88 citizens), w.jesse.xyz (86), purple.philm.eth (75), 0x91...5871 (75), vitalik.eth (74) are the most followed accounts on Farcaster
- Only 19 people (~10%) have no identified connections
- Potential connections within the Regen movement – 49 people (~25%)
This work led us also into exploring the sybil algorithms for the Farcaster, where we can reuse some data and insights already.
Who has benefited most from the analytics work you have produced?
Here’s some feedback from various users:
- Emily (OP Citizen House): this is very interesting! looks to me like I can use this to see the most connected people, who maybe also have the most influence... like vitalik and linda
- Griff (Citizen, Delegate): It’s a fantastic tool for coordination in the Citizen House. Seeing the shared connections can greatly support planning and partnerships, as well as aid in checking for collusion.
- Kevin Owocki (Citizen): seems like a nice way to get an at a glance view of the op political economy
- Divine Comedian (Citizen): Tried it out, visually it looks cool
- Luuk (OP Developer): That sounds great, we can add the graph to the Analytics page for sure. We’re also working on a second version of our website, which could have more sections about visualisations and maps
- Alex Soto (OP governance contributor): I really like that there are different categories with which to filter the view and the level of interactivity it has. And yet, I miss categories more linked to the work within the collective (like ‘chosen in representative structures this season’ or ‘are part of x contribution path’); which is what I tried to reflect in my chart (we plan to add this feature soon)
Also accepted into Token Engineering the Superchain, Web3 Grants Ecosystem Advancement, CollabTech Round and Thresholds Experiment gitcoin rounds, got donations from 56 contributors. Got a small prize at the OP Superhack lately.
